The Perfect Winter Fragrance

My greatest discovery of 2021 was by far the As The Season Turns Podcast hosted by Lia Leendertz; it is a monthly podcast released on the first day of each month, which looks into the month in detail through the eyes of nature, the moon, old traditions and many more beautiful and calming anecdotes that make the most wonderful listen over a cup of tea or just before you tuck into bed.

The podcast itself is sponsored by Ffern, which is where I made a discovery of a different kind. The concept behind Ffern is that they are a small batch organic perfume maker who make just four fragrances a year, released at the equinoxes and solstices. This immediately captured my attention, and I joined their waiting list to be on their ledger. After a couple of months of waiting, I was informed I has been added to the ledger just in time for the release of the Winter 22 fragrance, inspired by Lyme Regis. It felt as though it was meant to be. My first Ffern perfume, inspired by one of Dorset’s most iconic coastal towns.

The perfume arrived just in time for the Winter Solstice and everything about it was wonderful, in fact, I am wearing it right now! As a company they have come up with some wonderfully creative ways to make it as sustainable as possible, including only making small batches and having a ledger so they make exactly the right amount, avoiding wastage. Within the package (that is 100% recyclable I might add) you receive a sample vile, so you do not need to unbox the whole perfume to sample it and check that you like the fragrance. Personally, I do not envision a perfume from Ffern that I will not love, but it is a brilliant idea for those who want to send theirs back for a full refund.

This discovery of not only a wonderful comfort for the ears in the form of the As The Season Turns podcast but also the perfect winter perfume now has me excited for the dawn of each new season and the beautiful fragrance it will bring.
