Organising For 2022

Since the dawn of the pandemic, I along with what I am sure are many others have discovered the beauty of slowing down. The world we live in pushes the need for productivity, hustle and leaving yourself constantly switched on. But since we have been left to reevaluate the impact of this fast paced way of living by being forced to stand still, the need for a more considered, thoughtful and slower pace of living is something I now consider essential.

This new year, I have put that thought into action by purchasing my first Essential Planner by Emily Rollings in partnership with Lauren McDermott. I have long admired the cosy pages of Lauren’s blog and introducing a planner that reflects her slow living ethos was a welcome addition to my new year routine. For a long time, I have started the new year setting big goals and planning extensively to fit as much into my year as possible, and like clockwork, I lose momentum within a few weeks having overworked myself - something I may have got away with back in my uni days but these days the haunting feeling of burnout gets to me a lot quicker if I overdo it! This new approach of doing only what is essential each week and loving what you do is something that has resonated with me so strongly, I just had to purchase Lauren and Emily’s planner.

Not only does it give you a to-do list for the week - rather than forcing you to fill each day with to do’s - but it also asks you to consider time for yourself, things that make you happy and little moments you want to tick off your ‘to do when I get round to it’ list at the back of the journal. That coupled with the deliciously rustic green leather and gold embossed cover, I could not resist.

I wish you all a happy and healthy new year. Remember to put yourself first and make 2022 the year we healed from the pandemic’s many kinds of losses, and look forward to a year of slowing down, taking stock and doing only the essential.
